Happy Spring West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce!
I’m honored to continue to serve as the 2022 Chairman of the Board! Our chamber is active, glowing, and growing! We are so happy you are members! Per my prior note to the Chamber, each month, I plan to share a few basic points that I’ve learned over my last 7 years as a member of the Chamber. At the March General Membership meeting, we were short on time so I quickly touched on an exercise that I’ve been utilizing the last few months called Your Daily Assessment. Anthony Meyers is the author of 1440: Minutes Matter When Living An Intentional Life. He encourages people to take a daily assessment and write it down. By writing it down, you can review your log for trends to see what areas you are winning in as well as the areas you need improvement. All you have to do is answer 3 questions:
- Where did I win?
- Where did I lose?
- What did I learn?
After utilizing this exercise for just a few weeks, I realized that one spot where I lost on many days was time spent on the phone reaching out to partners, past clients, and prospects. My grandpa always told me, “Get that darn pole in the water or I promise you won’t catch a fish.” You won’t nourish relationships, build new relationships, or earn business if you aren’t in front of the people who you need to be. Getting on the phone and communicating is extremely important regardless of the type of business you are in.
Stay positive and remember to start each day off
with a personal and business victory! People do business with people they
know, like, and trust. Come to events, meet new people, and schedule a
one on one! Keep your poles in the water!
